Mystery Location Contest -- Part One

Mystery Lake

Predator Book

Despite the world growing ever smaller, planet Earth is still a big place with many lovely scenes. I came across this pristine tundra lake on one of my adventures. Guess where it is. The first person to name the lake, state or province and country (all three) in which it's nestled will win an autographed, post-paid copy of my most recent book, Predator Hunting, published by Skyhorse Publishing, N.Y, N.Y. In addition to the expected chapters on tactics, guns, ammo, bullets, camo, decoys, calls and hunting tactics, I've included chapters on the natural history of coyotes, bobcats, wolves, red and gray foxes, cougars, black bears and raccoons.

There's a somewhat speculative chapter theorizing why prey animals cry and why predators respond (that last part seems obvious.) And I've included brutal details on a phenomenon many folks might find surprising -- interspecies competition. Dog-eat-dog and cat-eat-cat competition. For the sport of it. In Nature's world, it seems, four-legged predators don't kill only to eat and don't always eat what they kill.  Hints as to the location of the mystery lake will be posted on RSO until someone wins. Here's the first hint, and it is a groaner: this isn't Florida. Send your guess (one per visit, please) via the comment link at the end of this blog.
