Being as stealthy as possible while moving through hunting grounds is essential. If you're still trying to hunt through potential bedding areas, closing in on game you spotted from afar, trying to sneak to your tree stand for a sit, or you're tracking bucks as they do in New England, every noise you make is too much.

It was May, and there were small signs that spring was arriving in northern Quebec. The hardwoods had tiny buds and the pines no longer creaked in the winter winds. Small patches of snow were still visible, but they would soon disappear in the rays of the sun. But spring does not come easy to the north country of Quebec. The ice on Mistassini Lake was not surrendering. It was still thick. Elijah Awashish made his way along the shoreline of the vast lake, hunting and trying to find open water to fish for trout and walleyes. He had a family to feed. 

After slogging through a palmetto jungle for who knows how long, I looked at Steven and said, "I don't think there are any hogs here." 

You can be chicken, but don't be completely chicken. Grab your favorite shotgun and go prairie chicken hunting.
